Plastering and Gyprocking in San Remo
San Remo sits about seventeen kilometres north east of Wyong, with Blue Haven, Buff Point and Halekulani around it. Ninety six homes in every hundred are freestanding houses. Northlakes High School is here and takes students from across the postcode. And unlike almost every other suburb we cover on this coast, no part of San Remo is on the water.
Common plasterboard problems in San Remo
Most of what decides a plastering job here is the house rather than the suburb. Four things about San Remo do change how we come at it.
No part of San Remo is on the water
San Remo sits inland of the ocean strip, and it is not on the edge of Budgewoi Lake either. Almost everywhere else we work on this coast is a beach suburb, a lake suburb or both. A frontage shapes those jobs before anybody picks up a sheet, and none of that applies here. What is left is an ordinary house on an ordinary block. The job is settled indoors, on what we find.
This is the northern end of where we work
San Remo, Blue Haven, Doyalson and Budgewoi sit at the top of our coverage. We come up on a run rather than making the trip for one job, and nothing goes on the price for the distance. What it can affect is the date. If you are working to a deadline, say so on the phone. You will get a straight answer about whether it fits.
Whether the room is upstairs changes the job more than the address does
Nearly every block here has a driveway and side access. Board goes in without much fuss and full length sheets reach the room. A room upstairs is the exception, and it is worth saying on the phone. Carrying long sheets up a staircase and around a landing takes longer. Sometimes it needs a second pair of hands, and sometimes the sheets come in through a window. Say so when you call and the quote will land much closer to the final number.
The weather here has almost no say in the schedule
The nearest weather station is at Norah Head, a few kilometres away, so these numbers are measured here rather than borrowed from inland. In an average year San Remo sees no days below zero and fewer than three above thirty five degrees. Neither the cold nor the heat has much say in how a job here is planned. A start date in July works about as well as one in October, which is not true of everywhere we go.
Why San Remo properties choose Newcastle Gyprocker Heroes
We sheet, set and sand plasterboard across San Remo and the rest of the Central Coast Council area, on new houses, renovations and repairs. Every job here is priced before it starts, whether it is one damaged wall or a whole house of new work.
How our plastering and gyprocking service works in San Remo
Send photographs of a repair, or the floor plans for a new house or renovation, and we price the work from those. A site visit happens where the job needs one, and it costs nothing. Once the quote is accepted we agree a start date that suits your builder's program or your own. Nothing is ordered until that date is set.
On the day we sheet the ceilings first and the walls after, so each wall sheet picks up the ceiling line. We sheet rather than frame, so the studs, ceiling battens and furring channel are set out by your builder or carpenter before we arrive. Clear the room where you can and we work around what has to stay. Walls and ceilings are left set, sanded and ready for the painter, and a repair patch stays visible until it is painted.
San Remo runs into Blue Haven, Buff Point, Halekulani and Charmhaven, with Budgewoi and its lakes further east. The streets are ordinary suburban ones and getting materials to the door is rarely the hard part. Two things are worth mentioning when you call. Whether the room is upstairs, and whether anything has been added since the house was built. Both change the method more than the address ever does.
Residential plastering in San Remo
Around eighteen hundred homes, ninety six in every hundred of them freestanding houses and one in two hundred a flat. More households here are paying off a mortgage than own outright. The median age is thirty four, which makes San Remo the younger half of a postcode it shares with Budgewoi.
Northlakes High School is in the suburb and takes students from across the postcode. The San Remo Neighbourhood Centre sits in the middle of it. We cover all of it on the same terms, along with Doyalson at the top end. The work here is what a suburb of freestanding houses generates: ceilings, repairs, and rooms that get relined when a house is being worked on.

Suburbs we service in San Remo and surrounds

Frequently asked questions about plastering in San Remo
Do you cover the suburbs around San Remo?
Yes. Newcastle Gyprocker Heroes covers San Remo and the suburbs around it, right across the Central Coast Council area. Every neighbouring suburb named on this page is inside the area we work in, and there is no travel charge to any of them. If your street is not shown, call us and say where you are, and we will confirm it on the phone.
What are your service hours in San Remo?
Our service hours are Monday to Saturday, 7am to 5.30pm. Newcastle Gyprocker Heroes keeps those hours across San Remo and the rest of the Central Coast Council area. A call outside them reaches voicemail rather than another number. Leave your suburb and a short description of the work and we will come back to you.
Is San Remo on the water?
No, and it is the one suburb we cover on this coast we can say that about. It sits inland of the ocean strip and it is not on Budgewoi Lake either. So none of the frontage questions we ask a few kilometres east apply to a job here. In practice the answer to most questions about your walls has nothing to do with the suburb. It has everything to do with the house.
Do you cover Blue Haven, Buff Point and Charmhaven?
Yes, and Halekulani, Budgewoi and Doyalson with them. All of it is on the same terms with nothing added for the distance. What can move out here is timing rather than price. This is the northern end of the coast for us and we come up on a run. Say when you call if there is a date you are working to and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
What sort of work do you do most in San Remo?
Ceilings and wall repairs, and relining rooms in houses people are living in. A suburb that is almost entirely freestanding houses generates that rather than the strata and common property work we do closer to the water. Whether it is one patch or a whole room, it is the same job to us and it is quoted the same way.
Can you give me a price before you come out?
Yes, for a repair, usually. Send a photograph of the damage with something in the shot for scale and we can usually price it from that. For a room or a whole house it is worth us coming out. The ceiling height, the access and what is already on the walls are what move the price. None of those read properly in a photograph. Either way the quote and the drive are free.
